Hard to believe it but Clifton had never played Dings Crusaders before in this final despite it being the 43rd time it has been held.
Dings have appeared 12 times and won it on 6 occasions and were surely confident going into the match given their result against Clifton just a few weeks ago (a loss by 43-10).
Dings took an early lead through a well worked try but Clifton edged back in front with two excellent penalty goals. However, at half time it was a lead by Dings of 8-6.
A large crowd saw Clifton score two tries early in the second half to take their lead to 18-11. A tense final quarter saw a few more points each but Clifton held their nerve and discipline to eventually win 21-16 in a very entertaining match.
Well done Clifton!
