Matt Salter has said that this weekend represents a huge marker for his side as they head into Round 4. Clifton have so far secured 3 from 3 and head to newly promoted Leicester knowing that a win could set the tone for the next few weeks.
Clifton remain one of only 4 unbeaten sides in the league, alongside Henley, Tonbridge and Taunton and are keen to maintain their momentum over the coming weeks as the top 3 begin to face off against each other. Their trip to Leicester poses a clear challenge as the physical side have performed well so far in their debut campaign.
Salter is pragmatic when asked how they intend to approach this weekend:
"They are a big physical outfit and they put Westcliff away well last week plus they scored 38 points against Old Albanians; they are a very good side and we have to ensure we have clarity on how we need to play and manage the game. We have been very good without the ball so far and we need to once again back ourselves whilst keeping our consistency in attack. We've identified some areas where we believe we can capitalise and that has been a big focus this week. That said, the boys are bouncing, there is a great energy in training but we have kept our focus on what is a tough game."
Salter welcomes back Dan Broady and Mike Uren to training this week having been rested and with Harry Bate making a man of the match debut against Bury, there are some exciting options in the pack. Fin Sharp has recovered from his knock against Barnes on opening day and is once again in contention for selection.
"This will be a good test of where we are; if we go up there and put in a good performance we can be confident of going into the next block of fixtures in a strong position. We've got some tough decisions to make on selection, everyone is going well and we have boys coming back in refreshed and keen to get going again. It is a long season but we are focused on getting the result we need this weekend.
