Everyone associated with Clifton Rugby is extremely sad to learn that Mike Anderton died yesterday after a long period of declining health.

Affectionately known as 'old bean', Mike was well known to many at the Club after years of service in many roles.

As Chairman of the Junior Committee for many years, Mike was well known and instrumental in bringing through entire generations of Clifton 1st XV players both on and off the field.

A regular at home and away matches, Mike would often be the one handing you a match day programme (and checking you had paid your ground entrance!).

Mike stepped down from the Clifton Rugby Committee in 2013 and in July 2015 was awarded an Honorary Life Membership in recognition for his contribution to Clifton RFC.

We will all miss him greatly and the Club will share details of any service on these pages when they are known.
