In what were horrible conditions, Clifton trained ahead of this weekend's match against Old Elthamians. The team go in to the game having won their opening two games against Worthing and Dorking respectively. They will be hoping to pick up where they left off, and maintain this winning start.
One noticeable aspect of Clifton's early success has been the performance of the forwards, who have looked dominant both at the breakdown and in the scrum. This form has not gone unnoticed by the rest of their team mates. Scrum-half Andy Uren said 'the forwards have been very dominant, in last weekends match they won nine out of ten scrums, so it's very good for the backs to push on and play off that.'
Despite this, Clifton will face a difficult task this weekend. Old Elthamians go in to the match still looking for their first win of the season. What is certain is that the home side will be looking to pick up that first win, so the lavender and blacks will face a side both determined and motivated.
When these two sides met last season, both teams picked up a win a piece. However, in the last game between the side's, it was Clifton who came out victorious with a 17 points to 7 win. So Clifton will certainly go in to the match hoping for a repeat performance, and will be looking to build on what has certainly been an impressive start.
