Clifton's Joe Owen has signed for Bristol Bears on a Senior Academy contract after his debut season in National 2S. The former Stroud second row has been in great form all season and has become one of the stand out performers in Clifton's league campaign.

Owen signs for Bristol following huge interest across the Premiership and his development will be keenly watched by all at Station Road.

"Joe has had a great year, he is a hugely talented athlete and with his ability, he has caught the eye and we couldn't be more pleased for him. It may be that he stays with us in some capacity over the course of his development with the Bears, but regardless, he deserves his opportunity and I am sure he will grab it with both hands."

In addition to Owen who will be part of the Bears integrated 1st XV, Clifton juniors Paddy Pearce, Jimmy Halliwell and Sami Hamid have also signed Academy deals following success with the championship winning Bears U18 side and England U18'S.
