Clifton players take part in celebration of rugby

As part of Bristol Rugby's 125th birthday The Peeler RFC played a Bristol Classics side on the Memorial Ground, several Clifton players took part.

In a Peeler RFC side put together by Pookie (Chris Marney) featuring players from several Combination clubs and ably coached by PeeWee (Mark Nichols), Clifton members put up a good fight in a well contested match against former (and current!) Bristol RFC members.

The Bristol side had many international players including Dave Hilton, Mariano Sambucetti, Graeme Beveridge, Roy Winters and Darren Compton to name a few and they came to compete as was clear from the whistle!

Fittingly, the first of the Peeler tries was recorded by Captain Pookie himself and the other 2 tries scored by the scratch side were equally impressive in front of the (not quite by 6pm) packed terraces of The Memorial Ground.

It was a unique experience to play on such a day, in such a place against such a side and it will live long in the memories of those lucky enough to take part... Well done to the following for representing Clifton so well...
