Bristol Touch Rugby at Clifton RFC

Bristol Touch Rugby at Clifton RFC

Anthony Davies17 May 2016 - 07:26

Clifton 7s put out a social side for the start of the Summer League of Bristol Touch 7s league. With 2 ex-internationals how did we get on??

So with minutes to go before our first game we decided to learn the rules. Very different to the touch we play at the club as part of our warm ups. The refs were friendly but enforced the going back 5m it meant we had to do some running.

The other rule was that you need 2 ladies on the field at all times. Oops. With only one lady in our squad we changed the rules and also had a 13 year old to even things out.

The only training the team had done was in the bar but how bad could it be.....

With 2 ex-internationals in our side Dave Hilton and Alfie To'Ola we were feeling relaxed. Unfortunately we couldn't use Alfie's main asset, his brute strength as this was touch. So back to the drawing board.

The first game was a draw at 2-2 against a younger side. The final game we lost to an even younger side. But who cares. It was a great excuse for getting out of the house, doing some exercise and meeting new people.

The league runs every Monday night starting at 6:45pm. If you want to join the Clifton team or enter your own team please contact lesrobinson@cliftonrugby.co.uk or take a look at www.bristoltouch.com
